What is NASW-NJ?
NASW-NJ is the state chapter of the NASW, an association continually working for its membership. Joining NASW gives you three memberships in one: national, state, and local (unit). To find more on NASW-NJ click here.
How can I contact the National office?

How can I find information on obtaining NASW Insurance?
NASW offers professional liability/malpractice insurance and group life & disability insurance through the NASW Insurance Trust. You may visit www.naswinsurancetrust.org or contact the national office at 800.638.8799 ext. 387 for more information. The NASW does not offer medical, dental, or vision insurance.
How can I renew my membership and/or update my name & address?
Update information must be given to the National office of NASW. You can renew your membership by visiting the national site at www.socialworkers.org to update your information online, or by calling the national membership department at 800.742.4089. You may also update your name and address by sending your updated information (including membership ID number) to membership@naswdc.org.
Is NASW-NJ the licensing board for Social Workers in New Jersey?
No, NASW-NJ is not the licensing board. The New Jersey State Board of Social Work Examiners is the licensing board for the State of New Jersey. You may contact NJSBSWE to request an application for your CSW, LSW or LCSW at 973.504.6495.
Does NASW-NJ offer information on licensing?
Yes, as a service to our members, NASW-NJ maintains "Frequenlty Asked Questions on Licensing" as a web page and brochure.
How do I know if an organization is approved to offer CEUs to New Jersey Social Workers?
Any course you take through NASW-NJ is automatically accepted by the New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners. Other sources of CE include: Attendance at programs or courses approved by the ASWB, Attendance at programs or courses given at State and national social work association conferences, where the criteria for membership is either licensure or certification as a social worker; Attendance at continuing education programs offered at a regionally accredited institution; completion of an undergraduate or graduate-level course at a regionally accredited institution: five credits for each course credit, up to a maximum of one-half of the required continuing education credits; and attendance at in-service training in a subject matter related to the setting in which the licensee works: one credit for each hour of training up to a maximum of six credits. Such in-service training shall not include staff meetings, quality assurance or case reviews or case management.

How do I file a complaint against a social worker?
The Chapter Committee on Inquiry considers complaints of alleged violations of the NASW Code of Ethics, an employer's or agency's personnel standards, or the right of social workers to professional action on behalf of clients.
